UK Residential Support Worker Employment Opportunities for Foreign Nationals

This is a full-time position, based out of Tadley, RG26, salary between £26000 – £29550 per year. We also have sponsorship opportunities for interested candidates who would like to grow with us.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will undertake the responsibility of assisting children and young people within a residential setting, hence, being able to promote their healing. About the Role
As a Support Worker in a Residential Care, your main focus will be on providing personal care to children and young people and working with them on a one to one basis within a placement children’s home. You will assist foster placements working with features such as internal safety plans aimed at the general post adolescent internal structure development needs of children.
A more in-depth focus on the care you provide will be introduced by limiting the number of children and young people you support at any one time and also setting them specific targets.
When children and young people are socially interactive or autonomously breaking, it is important to have consistent and reliable structures for them to go to as caring shoulders whether it is daily living, when managing emotions or doing homework.
Performance Targets
Role Model: Provide care with consistency, structure, and nurturing, so that it can be said you are a positive role model to the people placed in your charge.
You will be the one whom they can look up to in times when they are facing challenges or are able to celebrate one.
Safety and Well-being: Make sure that each child or young person is safe and protected while in your care, especially focusing on the emotional and physical aspects of their health.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Document carefully all recorded observations for – how well children adapt, whether there are any signs of stress, and so forth, and mention them to the relevant professionals to ensure best care.
- Promoting Semi-Independence: Motivate and recommended the establishment of personal grooming standards and encouraging self-sufficiency with daily activities. For instance, assisting when necessary with meals, getting clothed and the routine.
- Participation in Activities: Assist children and young people to engage in various activities including education, sports, and recreational activities. Help them to and fro from these activities when necessary.
- Effective Communication: Ensure to communicate with other members of the team including the parents, teachers, therapists, and social workers to ensure that everyone is aware of the development and needs of the child or young person.
- Record Keeping: You are required to update the records electronically and report any incidents as necessary so that observations of the stress indicators are conducted in a professional manner. Such details will include any other comments made by the clients.
- Shift Work and Sleep-ins: The days are laid when you are required to get to work for shifts which may include overnight sleep in and this is done to clients whom you would be working with at night to give them support.
You will be working primarily with other staff members, so that the children and young people who you will be looking after will be receiving the best care possible.
You will be a key person in their life and make a significant contribution to their future well-being.
What We Are Looking For
When you are performing this job, you should have the following appertaining to the role for any of the criteria’s’ tasks:
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant Qualifications: In social work, welfare or childcare and similar areas such as NVQ level 3 in children and young people.
- Experience: It includes those who have been working with children and young people, particularly in a residential establishment before.
- Communication Skills: This involves good command of both verbal and written communication and the ability to interact with children, other staff members and other professional associates in a productive manner.
- Emotional Resilience: The ability to control one’s emotions and reactions in difficult scenarios, i.e. to stay calm while situation is demanding otherwise.
- Professional Boundaries: An understanding of how to establish professional boundaries with children and young people in a clear way.
- IT Proficiency: A fundamental skill of IT and systems especially Microsoft office to enable record keeping and communication with colleagues.
- Flexibility and Commitment: The ability to work odd hours such as on weekends and public holidays and also to travel with children on overnight stays.
Desirable Criteria:
- A driving license may be advantageous, but is not crucial since some travel may be needed for excursions or activities, but not all.
- First Aid qualification would be desirable, though training can be done.
