About the Role
While being part of Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village as a Registered Nurse you will be coming across the opportunity to offer resident focused nursing care in the most professional and respectful way. You will have the responsibility for overseeing the provision of clinical care to residents with multiple medical needs in order to aim for the highest standard of care.
On a daily basis, you will coordinate and clinically manage the care of residents with diverse clinical needs including the assessment of their health status, ordering of necessary medication, and working closely with their doctors, allied health professionals and other health care providers.
Additionally, you will assist in the supervision of junior colleagues, coordination of care plan implementation, and will be responsible for the appropriate rendering of the care in terms of timeliness and empathy.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical care as well as managing patients with multiple complex care needs.
- Performing health evaluations and preparing specific care plans for patients.
- Following the clinical protocols for administering treatment including medication.
- Training and overseeing junior staff members as well as nursing aides.
- Working with families and other health care professionals for effective care of residents.
- Adhering to the nursing and general health & safety protocols.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for Registered Nurses who possess not only proficiency in skills but also interpersonal skills and communication.
You must engage appropriately and compassionately with residents, families, and staff, bearing in mind that care is delivered on a dignified and respectful basis.
The applicant must also be able to speak solving and critical thinking and have minimal supervision but still be functioning member of the team.
To be suitable for this position, you are required to:
- Have valid AHPRA registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse.
- Have a strong interest in elderly care and a will to work with the geriatrics.
- Great clinical practices in taking care of the residents especially those who have multiple medical complications.
- Great communication ability and problem solving in regards to attending to the needs of residents with many complexities.
- Ability to use the resident databases and keep the patient files in order.
- Good leadership techniques including mentoring of other staff and rising them with the confidence in honesty.
- Well-developed speaking and writing skills.
- Interpersonal skills that would enable working in a multidisciplinary team in delivering better care for patients.
- Concerns with elderly care, mostly in the areas of dealing with complicated issues, will be considered an asset, however we are also willing to accept candidates that possess sufficient nursing experience in other fields and wish to shift into this particular area of focus.
- Completion of a Police Check which yields a satisfactory result is a prerequisite for the role.
