Candidates must be on-call in case any emergencies arise, which require their expertise and experience. This position also includes accommodation facilities for the employee candidacy.

Responsibilities

  • As a Personal Caregiver, your daily responsibilities would include but are not limited to the personal hygiene, daily activities, and emotional well being of the client. Specific daily activities would include:
  • Administering Bedside and Personal Care: You will aid the client in aspects like climbing up and getting off the bed or changing sides, or even moving around.
  • Administering Medications: Overseeing that the client takes his medications within the specified duration and quantity along with complications or abnormalities experienced subsequently.
  • Assisting with Bathing and Personal Hygiene: Dignity and care of the client are emphasized by assisting with bathing, putting on clothing, hairstyling and other associated activities as they are part of the basic hygiene routine.
  • Feeding and Meal Assistance: A client who requires feeding is also assisted in this particular activity by providing healthy dishes which are suited to his/her special dietary preferences and even cooking for him/her, when necessary.
  • Laundering Clothing and Household Linens: Clients also have comfortable clothes as I attend to launder any clothing, linen, and even household items so that there is clean clothing at all times even if I have to attend to washing them myself.
  • Performing Light Housekeeping and Cleaning Duties: I put in my best efforts in basic level house chores and maintenance ensuring the home environment is tidy, where a variety of simple house tasks such as cleaning and upkeep is needed to be done.
  • Providing Companionship: I make sure to pay attention and offer emotional support, as well as company to distract from loneliness or to be able to socially participate in various activities that may be used as therapy.
  • Preparing and Serving Nutritious Meals: Cooking and serving food is done keeping in mind the food preferences, habits of the client, and fulfilling the nutritional requirements.

Patience: Personal care is quite demanding and as such, it requires patience, understanding and the ability to keep cool and composed even when the times are difficult.

Experience and Education

Experience: Minimum 5 years or more of relevant work in the caregiving and or personal support profession.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.

Additional qualifications like Personal Support Worker (PSW) and/or other relevant qualifications in health would be an advantage.
